Pretending to be Retired

Steve Sr. purchased Nunan’s in 1985.  His love for plants and hard work is known to everyone.  After 40 years of growing the business, he proudly passed the torch to his eldest son Stephen Jr.  Since the words ‘slow down’ is not in his vocabulary, Steve is still working every day and happy to be doing so.  When he does take time off, you can find him golfing with family and friends, attending his grandchildren’s events at school or watching them play their sports.  Steve and his wife are starting to travel more around the world but rest assured their travel includes touring the world’s beautiful gardens!

Fun Fact:  Steve is the oldest of 8 siblings and has 5 Children, 8 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandson.

Stephen Flynn Jr.

Owner

While working 35 years side by side with his dad, Stephen literally grew up in the business. He learned the ins and outs of the business and it quickly became his passion.  So invested that he always stays on top of what is trending.  In 2019 he brought Agritourism to the property by creating what is now a beautiful 18-Hole Garden Mini Golf Course and a Café.  His hands-on experience makes him one of our most trusted sources for gardening advice. His garden tip: Water deeply, rather than frequent shallow waterings in order to encourage stronger root systems. When not at Nunan’s Stephen likes spending time with his family and working in his yard with the dogs.

Fun Fact:  In 2025 his mini course was voted the Prettiest Mini Golf Course in the State of Massachusetts!

Maryanne Gotts

Office & Finance Manager

With almost 30 years here at Nunan’s, Maryanne is the glue that keeps all things administration moving.  Her favorite flowers are Irises and Peonies because she can cut them in her garden and enjoy them in her home. She has learned a lot about gardening from her brother Steve and her nephew Stephen over the years.  She continues to ask them for advice about what to plant, where to plant and how to take care of them.  After the long winter months, she looks forward to the spring when she can dig in the garden, add new plants or containers and watch all the plants come alive and all their colors pop!  During the summer months she enjoys spending time outside and enjoying all the colors she created!

Fun Fact:  Maryanne loves collecting shells and giraffes!

Maureen Nickerson ‘Moe’

Garden Center Manager

Maureen has worked at Nunan’s since the very beginning!  She has spent the last 40 years working alongside her older brother and nephew.  She has a love for indoor plants and is always excited to help customers learn about them!  With all her years of experience under her belt she is an expert in caring for these houseplants.  If you were to ask her what her favorite plant is, she would answer “All of Them!”  Her plant tip would be to tell you that a little under watering is better than over watering. Maureen says that gardening brings enjoyment and calmness to her life. 

Fun Fact:  Moe loves bright colored mixed matched socks and themed earrings.

Lisa Folsom

Senior Production Manager

Lisa has been an employee since day one!  As the leader in the Nunan’s growing operation, she brings over 60 years of growing experience with a goal of producing the highest quality plants available. One of her favorites is Proven Winners Salvia ‘Playing the Blues’. It requires minimal care, blooms all season and is deer resistant. Her advice to any gardener would be to plant seasonally, not just all at once. Stop by the greenhouse and you’ll find Lisa in her favorite environment – getting her hands dirty!

Fun Fact: Lisa graduated from high school with grey hair!

Linda Zukas

Retail Sales Manager

Linda has over 36 years of garden center experience and leads our retail sales team at Nunan’s. Linda enjoys sharing her knowledge with the customers and helping them create their own gardens or plant containers. All our customers look for Linda out front because they know she will be able to help them with any project and trust her.   Her favorite plant is what is blooming and in season – she loves them all!  There is nothing like the first blooms of spring – whether it is the happy faces of Pansies or cheerful Daffodils. Her garden tip is to treat hanging baskets like a teenager – feed them, feed them and then feed them again and you will get the blast of color you are looking for!

Fun Fact:  Linda grew up on a Dairy Farm in New Hampshire

Julie Borrelli

Manager Human Resources

Julie joined the Office Staff in 2018 and brings years of human resources experience to the company.  She plays a key role in keeping Nunan’s running smoothly. During her seven years of providing human resources here at Nunan’s, she mostly enjoys the camaraderie of working with others to help them achieve their goals. Her favorite plant is a Peony as it reminds her of her mom. Like many she says, the best part of gardening is the end result.

Fun Fact:  Julie loves to travel with her husband and daughters.

Robin Blunt

Production Manager

With 23 years of growing experience, Robin plays a key role in overseeing plant production at Nunan’s. Her expertise, attention to detail, and passion for growing help keep Nunan’s greenhouses flourishing season after season. As part of the grower department, she ensures every crop is healthy, vibrant, and ready to bring color to customers’ gardens. Robin’s favorite plant is Silver Falls Dichondra, which she loves for its graceful, trailing habit and shimmering silver foliage.

Fun Fact:  Robin is also a lifelong cat lover who finds joy in caring for both plants and pets alike.

Erik Wochholz

Head Grower

Erik joined the Nunan’s staff in 2025 and brings with him 26 years of experience as a grower. His philosophy is the more you grow, the more you know – like his favorite plant – the Passion flower. Erik finds peace in nature and finds purpose as a steward of nature’s beauty. Erik is part of a team that grows over 100,000 plants sold at Nunan’s.

Fun Fact:  Erik once got lost in a New Zealand rain forest for days!

Stephanie Gragg

Garden Care Manager

Stephanie works offsite directly with our customers designing, installing, pruning and advising.  She has over 20 years of gardening experience and loves it!  Her favorite plant is the Weeping Willow because it gives her a peaceful, humbling feeling.  Her gardening advice is to water, water, water.  Stephanie loves to be in nature and loves working with the customers and seeing them find joy in their new garden.

Fun Fact:  Stephanie loves playing and taking care of our goats!

Lisa Brennan

Floral Manager/Designer

Lisa’s love of flowers began as a young child and has blossomed into the role of the Floral Manager here at Nunan’s. If you were to ask her about her favorite plant it would have to be Boston Fern. A tip from Lisa would be to pay attention to the correct light and watering levels for the different plants. Have a question on that, just ask our helpful staff.

Fun Fact:  Lisa loves playing tennis and being outdoors!

Max Labrecque

Retail Supervisor

Max has been part of the Nunan’s team since 2024.  He loves helping customers find plants that bring color and life to their homes. His favorite plant is the croton, admired for its bold colors and striking foliage. Max’s best gardening advice is simple but essential — don’t overwater. Giving plants a chance to dry out between waterings keeps them strong and healthy. Fun Fact:  Max enjoys hiking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, finding inspiration in the beauty of the natural world.

Robyn Fehr

Nursery Sales Associate

Robyn has six years’ experience in gardening and joined the Nunan’s Team in 2025.  Her favorite plant is the Asters.  She loves them because they provide a late season nectar feast for pollinators and support our native specialist bees.  Her gardening tip is: use compost or worm casting tea in your soil.  Robyn loves gardening because she loves cultivating beautiful landscapes to share with the wild life.

Fun Fact:  Robyn has a pet bunny named Bug and uses his manure in her garden.

Marissa

Accounts Payable

Marissa joined the Office Staff in 2022.  Having a love for plants, she couldn’t wait to purchase her first plant which was a snake plant that she still has today. She is an example of another employee at Nunan’s whose love of plants has grown with her time here. One of her favorite plants is the Pink Princess Philodendron. She loves to watch things grow and likes the cool variegation on the Philodendron. She also loves to rescue and propagate plants at home.

Fun Fact:  Marissa loves to craft.

Giselia ‘Gigi’

Wholesale Assistant

Giselia joined the Office Staff in 2024.  You can find Gigi in her happy place helping the wholesale team at Nunan’s. When not at work you’ll find her listening to music and taking care of her plants. Gigi finds that her time in the garden is a place to zone out and connect with nature. One of her favorite plants is the variegated English Ivy. It is as easy to grow as it is beautiful.

Fun Fact: Gigi has a rock collection!

Jacob

Entertainment Manager/Resident Macaw

Jacob brings joy to everyone who comes to visit!  He has been our greeter for 24 years and loves to show off.    Jacob says he loves all the plants but can’t have them!  He enjoys all the customers, his bird friends and all the yummy snacks like apples, almonds and walnuts.

Fun Fact: He can say – hello, goodbye, Moe, bad bird, good bird and Jacob!

Nick Novello

Floral Designer

With more than 60 years of gardening experience, Nick brings a lifetime of knowledge and creativity to his work as a Floral Designer at Nunan’s. His favorite plant is the impatiens, admired for its instant color and cheerful blooms that last all season long. Nick’s top gardening tip is simple but vital — proper watering makes all the difference when it comes to healthy, thriving plants. For Nick, gardening is more than a hobby; it’s a way to find peace and relaxation in nature.

Fun Fact:  Nick often jokes that after so many years surrounded by flowers, he sometimes forgets how old he is — proof that gardening really does keep you young at heart.

Ron Adkins

Florist/Artistic Specialist

A lifelong gardener, Ron has been surrounded by plants since childhood and brings that deep-rooted passion to his work as a Floral and Wedding Work at Nunan’s. His favorite plant is the lemon tree, admired for its aromatic flowers and bright, refreshing scent. Ron believes that gardening is all about timing and patience — he always reminds others to plant fall bulbs for beautiful spring blooms. When he’s not designing floral arrangements or preparing for weddings, Ron can often be found cutting fresh flowers from his garden to create seasonal displays at home.

Fun Fact:  Ron loves bee keeping.  He loves the connection between pollinators and the blooms that inspire his artistry.

Emily White

Plant Maintenance Crew

Emily works off site maintaining, planting, watering and pruning plants.  During the summer you might see her watering the beautiful hangers grown at Nunan’s at 4:00 am in the towns of Hamilton, Ipswich and Topsfield.   She says she has been gardening what feels like 100 years.  She grew up gardening with her mom and loved it!  Her favorite plant is the Japanese Maple.  Her go-to gardening tip is: be good to your plants – they will be good back!  She loves gardening and finds it relaxing and loves that the plants don’t talk back!

Fun Fact:  Emily loves to play disc golf.

Hector Morales

Watering Technician

Hector has three years’ experience in gardening.  During the summer months if you drive thru Haverhill at 3 am, you will see him watering the beautiful hangers grown at Nunan’s.  Hector also delivers plants and helps out wherever needed.   His favorite plant is the Epiphyllum Oxypetalum.  His gardening tip is:  remember to fertilize.  He loves gardening because it gives him a sense of accomplishment and purpose.

Fun Fact:  Hector is passionate about skin care, nutrition and a healthy lifestyle.

Samantha Donaghue

Cashier

Samantha joined the retail team in 2025.  She has been one of the welcoming faces customers see at Nunan’s checkout counter. She loves the peace and joy that comes from sharing her passion for plants with others and helping people bring a bit of nature home. Her favorite plants are mums, which remind her of fall — her favorite season, with its crisp air and colorful blooms. Always upbeat and ready for anything,

Fun Fact:  She is always down for a last-minute trip, especially if it involves the outdoors or a new place to explore.

Savanna Bellfy

Cashier

Savanna joined the retail team in 2025.  She brings creativity and care to everything she does in the garden center. Her favorite plant is the Pink Princess Philodendron, loved for its striking pink foliage and one-of-a-kind personality. Savanna’s best advice for plant lovers? Talk to your plants — they’ll thank you for it. She finds joy in the peace and quiet that comes from spending time in nature, where inspiration always seems to bloom.

Fun Fact:  Savanna is an avid crafter, and she loves drawing and crocheting.

Tom Brady

Voted Most Handsome

Tom loves to challenge Boomerang and get into mischief with him.  He loves holding the title of most handsome.  He too enjoys all the plants that he can eat.

Fun Fact:  Tom’s favorite is the leaves in autumn when they fall from the trees.

Giselle

Baby Sister

Giselle is the baby sister of the group but don’t let that fool you.  She can be just as tough as Tom and Boomerang.   She loves to be brushed and scratched on the head.   She is the most outgoing of the family.   Giselle looks forward to the end of the day when she knows Stephanie will come let them out and they can run around the property.

Fun Fact:  She too loves all the plants, especially the ones she can eat!
