Workshop: Spring Gardening Forum
February 18 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm$5.00
On Tuesday, Feb. 18th the Haverhill and Groveland Garden Clubs will be hosting their Annual Spring Gardening Forum to be held at Nunan’s at 6:30 PM.
The speaker is Rebecca Warner, who will be speaking on Native Plants and Pollinators. She will be talking about planting native plants to support native insects, especially bees. She bases her talk on Dr. Doug Tallamy’s book Bringing Nature Home on supporting native insects. She will break down insects into three groups from a gardener’s point of view: leaf eaters, beneficials, and pollinators … and explains how they stay in balance in a healthy garden ecosystem. She debunks myths about native plants and recommends some natives that work well in her own garden. And finally she will provide garden maintenance tips for an insect-friendly garden.
This event is open to the public and there is a $5.00 fee payable to the garden clubs to offset the cost of the speaker. The doors will open at 6pm, with light refreshments provided.
